Learning Outcome #2

In my paper, I used sources as evidence to strengthen the paper. Incorporating quotes into already written sentences and also paraphrasing some quotes into my own words so I know that if at first something did not make sense to me but then changing it into my own words it would make sense to others and not be a bunch of word vomit. Every quote in my paper I did make sure that I explained how it fits with my topic and that my explanation made sense with that specific quote. For example, I used this quote from “The Trouble With Medicine’s Metaphors” by Dhruv Khullar “Over the centuries, we’ve internalized these military metaphors so much that we often may not recognize how they influence us” (Khullar.) After this quote, I went on to say “People often discount metaphors because they are so frequently used in today’s society. This does not change how much of an impact they can have. Many times, metaphors are a technique of making complicated, drawn-out situations understandable to anyone. This is especially the case in the health care world. Military comparisons have become the most commonly used types of metaphors, especially by doctors in medical settings.” Writing this after a quote is not to reset what the quote already said but to go further in-depth and to sometimes ask that your opinion is no the topic.
