Before taking this class I knew the word metaphor. I heard it in school, but I never wrapped my finger around the meaning of it. Reading “See Through words” by Erard, “The Trouble With Medicine’s Metaphors” by Khullar, and “Metaphors” by Geary showed me so many different ways to understand metaphors also, how to understand them. Even in class, our conversations about them showed me that not everyone takes a metaphor the same way as someone else. All of these articles had very good answers for how metaphors are useful when convincing people or having people look at your perspective. It’s hard to convince people on your point of view. I don’t believe that  Metaphors work one hundred percent of the time, but I think in most situations that can be very useful. Reading all three of these articles has shown me that metaphors are appropriate for many different conversations and situations.
